The Three Pigs

Wiesner, D. (2001). The three pigs. New York, NY: Clarion/ Houghton Mifflin.

The book begins as the classic tale of the wolf trying to demolish the pigs’ houses and capture the pigs. It then takes a turn in which the pigs escape their pages in the fairytale collection and begin running through other tales in the book. In the end they decide to return home with the addition of a dragon they befriended along the way. The dragon helps them with the pesky wolf. The style of language and illustrations were of a comic book with speech bubbles and cells. The angle of the drawings created a feel of movement. The style of pictures also changed and reflected the time period in which the various fairy tales they encountered on their book journey.
