The Coldest Girl in Coldtown

Black, H. (2013). The coldest girl in Coldtown [Kindle version]. Retrieved from Amazon.com

Tana Bach is a teenager living in a world where humans and vampires coexist. Once a human is bitten, they are infected with a virus. It is curable by refraining from drinking human blood for up to 88 days. The virus is strong and the craving unbearable, so most cave to the urge and drink human blood to quench their thirst, which ignites the transformation from human to vampire. Coldtowns were created to contain vampires and the spread of the virus. Once entered, there is no return unless you have a marker. Tana’s town hadn’t been threated in many years until now. Tana and her friend Aiden have been infected and are the only ones to survive a surprise attack during a party. During their escape they discover a vampire hunted by his own kind. Tana saves and befriends Gavriel the ancient vampire who is as scary as he is intriguing. On a quest to rescue Aiden, Gavriel and herself, they find themselves in Coldtown on a journey larger than she realized. She discovers Gavriel is on a quest for revenge against his maker, and Tana finds herself killing Lucien Moreau herself. She is determined to fight the virus in her veins by locking herself up with Gavriel by her side. The Coldest Girl in Coldtown is a fast paced exciting adventure. It is an interesting fantasy world with quirky yet strong characters that are also relatable. For more thrilling fantasy adventures read Holly Black’s Modern Faerie Tales series.
